Quick Stats

Overview

The Hellboy Classic Plakat Betta is a true representative of the Plakat variety, bred specifically for their gorgeous assortment of colors, and beautiful fin variety. While this species comes in a range of colors, red is the most present and defining color of the Hellboy Classic Plakat Betta. While all Plakat Bettas are eye-candy, the Hellboy Classic Plakat Betta is a one-of-a-kind, high-quality specimen.

The “Classic” in Hellboy Classic Plakat Betta is defined by its tail. The tail is not a full half-moon, which can be found on the Hellboy Plakat Betta.

The Plakat variety of Betta is defined by their shorter fins and tails when compared to other varieties of Betta splendens.

The Betta finds an ideal environment in a well-filtered aquarium that holds a steady temperature of between 75° and 86°F. While the Betta is frequently sold in small bowls in stores, it is recommended that Betta splendens be kept in aquariums of at least 4 gallons with peaceful tank mates for the most ideal outcome. A filter and a heater provide essential circumstances for these hardy and colorful species. As they prefer a variety of hiding places, foliage and freshwater plants are most welcome.

Betta splendens can be bred in a home aquarium. Males and females can be temporarily housed together for the sake of breeding. Once the female has laid the eggs, they are placed inside a bubblenest and tended to by the male, following which the Fry appear after 24 hours. These Fry need to be fed small food initially, such as crushed or powdered flakes and newly hatched brine shrimp. Finely chopped, hard-boiled egg yolk will also do fine.

The Betta splendens is a carnivore, and it is important to provide it with quality flake food, frozen or free-fried bloodworms and brine shrimp.
