Overview

Did you know that this specimen ships from our LiveAquaria® Wisconsin Facility, home of our popular Diver's Den® WYSIWYG Store and our LiveAquaria® Certified Captive Grown Corals (CCGC)? What that means is that you can rest assured knowing this specimen received the highest level of care from our experienced and professional LiveAquaria® staff! PLUS, hobbyists that use our LiveAquaria® Professional Reef Salt have the added benefit knowing marine species shipped from our LiveAquaria® Wisconsin Facility share the same water parameters. In other words, if you use our Professional Reef Salt, marine species shipped from our Wisconsin Facility will acclimate and transition to your home aquarium with less stress to set the foundation for longer term success.

The Brittle Sea Star is common throughout the Caribbean and has a very small red central disc, which may have variable patterns. The long spiny red arms are fringed with white spines, and have a white pattern.

It is nocturnal and often hides under rocks during the day. At night, it comes out to eat detritus and small organisms. It cannot tolerate copper-based medications.

The Brittle Sea Star is very intolerant of sudden changes in oxygen levels, salinity and pH of the water, and cannot tolerate copper-based medications. The drip acclimation method is highly recommended for all Sea Stars due to their intolerability to changes in water chemistry. It should never be exposed to air while handling.

In the aquarium it may be fed zooplankton, very finely chopped meaty items, and liquid invertebrate foods.

Approximate Purchase Size: 3" to 6"
