Overview

The Snow White Plakat Betta Betta Splendens, is another result of a long history of captive breeding to produce showy Bettas. With a dramatic tail and a robust body shape, this definitely is a showstopper. Displaying snow white coloring throughout its body and fins with bright red coloration. Possessing a shorter fin true to its Plakat lineage, the metallic sheen displayed by its scales reminiscent of dragon scales. The ability to house such a beautiful fish is attractive to both beginners and experienced aquarists alike due to its easy care level and relatively peaceful temperament when housed one male per aquarium. The head tapers down to a point, with an upturned mouth.

In the natural environment, Bettas live in slow or standing bodies of water, such as floodplains, canals, and rice patties so do not require a larger tank environment as other fish, but care should be taken not to house them in jars or bowls. They are at home in planted aquariums with driftwood or other hiding places.

This member of the Osphronemidae family is a carnivore and should be offered a varied diet including quality flake foods, pelleted Betta food, and frozen or freeze-dried bloodworms and brine shrimp.
