Overview

Double your joy with a Halfmoon Double Tail Betta. In addition to its stunning color in vibrant blue and red, it has flowing fins and appears to have two tails that are halfmoon or semi-circle shapes. This Betta splendens is popular among home aquarists around the world. Both are spectacular, but the male is more colorful than the female.

The Halfmoon Double Tail Betta shares the same care requirements as other members of the Osphronemidae family. As such, only one male Betta should be kept in an aquarium. In their natural environment, Bettas live in heavily planted slow or standing bodies of water, such as floodplains, canals, and rice patties so they do not require a large tank environment. They should be provided with hiding places in driftwood, or that plants can offer them (including floating plants). Care should be taken not to house Bettas in jars or bowls even though they are small fish, only growing to 2.5”.

This specific Betta is a carnivore and should be offered a varied diet including quality flake foods, pelleted Betta food, and frozen or freeze-dried bloodworms and brine shrimp when fed in their freshwater aquarium.
