Overview

The aquacultured Ultra Toxic Branching Hammer Coral is a variety of large polyp stony (LPS) coral often referred to as Euphyllia Hammer Coral or Anchor Coral. Its common names are derived from its hammer-, or anchor-shaped tips on its tentacles. Its polyps are visible throughout the day and night and hide its skeletal base. The aquacultured Ultra Toxic Branching Hammer Coral boasts exceptionally vibrant coloration that appears to glow even without the aid of actinic lighting!

The aquacultured Ultra Toxic Branching Hammer Coral is moderately difficult to maintain but with proper water conditions, it will thrive in the home reef aquarium. The aquacultured Ultra Toxic Branching Hammer Coral will require moderate lighting achieved with T-5s, powerful LEDs or the more intense metal halides combined with moderate water movement within the aquarium. At night, its sweeper tentacles can extend up to six inches potentially stinging other species of corals and animals within reach. Ensure plenty of room between it and other neighboring corals. For continued good health, the aquacultured Ultra Toxic Branching Hammer Coral will also require the addition of calcium, strontium, and other trace elements to the water.

The symbiotic algae zooxanthellae hosted within the aquacultured Ultra Toxic Branching Hammer Coral supplies the coral with the majority of its nutrition. However, it will benefit from additional feedings in the form of micro-plankton or brine shrimp.
