Overview

The Captive-Bred Yellow Line Goby is very similar in appearance as the Gold Line Goby. They are all black in coloration with two striking gold horizontal stripes that run from the nose through the tail of the fish. Unlike other gobies of this genus, they do not act as fish cleaners in the aquarium. They are a very bold and active fish that will nearly always be in clear view in the aquarium and make a hardy addition to any saltwater community or reef aquarium.

It should be housed in a 10-gallon or larger aquarium. Rarely will it become aggressive towards other fish, but is territorial, and will fight with its own kind unless they are a mated pair. They commonly inhabit sponges in the wild such as vase or tube sponges. These sponge are not a necessity for aquarium life, as they will readily adapt to any saltwater community or reef aquarium.

The Captive-Bred Yellow Line Goby feeds on a variety of live and frozen brine and mysis shrimp, a quality flake and pellet food, and frozen food preparations for carnivores.

It is common for the Captive-Bred Yellow Line Goby to spawn in an aquarium, laying its eggs in a crevice or empty shell.
