Overview

The Tozeuma Ghost Pipe Shrimp is also known as a Pipefish Shrimp, and has a very fascinating shape. The bodies of these shrimp are long and slender with a bend at the abdomen. They are mostly yellow in color with large black eyes and brown reed-like appendages on the head. It is unknown how they mimic pipefish in the wild, and it is speculated that they act as cleaner shrimp, removing parasites from passing fish.

Tozeuma Ghost Pipe Shrimp do best in groups of 2 or more individuals in a smaller reef aquarium. Although very hardy, these shrimp should be acclimated slowly to avoid any salinity and/or pH shock. They are intolerant of high nitrates or copper levels, and iodine levels in the water must be correct to promote proper molting.

Feed the Tozeuma Ghost Pipe Shrimp frozen meaty items like brine or mysis shrimp, chopped fish and cockle.
