The Gardneri Killifish is also referred to scientifically in the genus Aphyosemion. This captive bred variety of Killifish is normally found in water holes, streams, and marshes in Africa. The term Killy is derived from the Dutch word meaning ditch or channel, not because this fish is a killer in the aquarium. These fish are ideal fish for the community aquarium, and will add some vibrant color and activity to these tank set-ups. The males of this species are a vibrant blue/green with many red spots running the length of the body. The tips of the dorsal, anal and caudal fin are fringed in yellow. The females are less brightly colored with many small brown spots running the length of the body.

The Gardneri Killifish are not demanding and can adapt to a variety of water conditions. These fish prefer a heavily planted tank and softer water on the acidic side.

This species of Killifish is not an annual species. Their eggs do not need to be removed from the water after spawning. They prefer to lay their eggs within a spawning mop or java moss. They are very easy to breed, and the eggs will hatch in about a month's time. Once hatched, place the fry in a small holding tank and feed the newborn fish live baby brine shrimp. Be sure to cover the holding tank as they may jump.

Gardneri Killifish will accept most live foods such as brine shrimp, white worms, tubifex, and some dry flake and frozen foods.

Listed as peaceful, however, within 48 hours of introduction this fish killed 2 and maimed 4 of my fish in a well established, peaceful, live planted 55 gallon tank.
Erika Sanchez Canton , GA
Of the five crabs I ordered only two were yellow tip hermit crabs, two were random snails, and one was literally just an empty shell. It isn't worth going through the hassle of getting an exchange but I had to leave a review so others would know to order with caution.
