Overview

The 3-Spot Domino Damselfish, also known as the Three Spot Damselfish, Threespot Dascyllus or Domino Damselfish, is so named due to the three white spots on its black body. It matures into an aggressive adult whose bright spots fade with age and will enter into a relationship with Stichodactyla species (Carpet Anemone) if one is available.

A 30 gallon aquarium or larger is suitable in size. Because it can tolerate substandard water parameters, it is a popular fish among beginning hobbyists. The 3-Spot Domino Damselfish becomes more active and aggressive with age. Therefore, it is a great fish to grow up with larger tankmates.

The 3-Spot Domino Damselfish feeds on a variety of meaty foods, herbivore preparations, and flaked foods.

Everything I have ordered from LiveAquaria.com so far has been top notch. I received four dominos about a month ago. They were all really healthy 1-1/2" specimens and had no apparent stress from shipping. I have yet to see them really aggressive. They chase each other around and really do not bother my yellow tang, blennies, crabs or shrimp. They are doing very well.

Cute as a bug when they are teensy. Real terrors when they get slightly larger. King of the roost no matter whats in the mix, and be sure to realize how big they become and the change in coloration as adults. They have been known to run divers off the reef and my little 'Spot' used to pester the hand that fed him. He now has a home outside my peaceful tank. Will terrorize even the most agressive fish, so be sure to check DFS compatibility charts.

Extremely hardy fish, but be forewarned, my fish grew extremely aggressive when it got bigger. It made life almost unbearable for the other fish in my tank and since it is used to condition tanks being one of the first fish increases its aggression. In addition if you have a lot of live rock it is almost impossible to get out of the tank. It took us months to catch it. If you are going to get this fish be prepared for aggression problems eventually even if you have a larger tank (mine is 180 gallons but no fish was safe if it swam anywhere near it)!

I got one just recently from liveaquaria and it acclimated very well. Out of all of the damsel fish i have, this one is most entertaining. Watching it eat the copepodes off the tank wall is really neat. I plan on adding more to my tank.

I just got one of these guys for my tank with corals. This guy has a lot of personality that is just great to watch. I am glad that he is the only fish that I have for that tank. Can not wait to watch him grow!
