The Blastomussa Merletti Coral offers a delightful choice for LPS (Large Polyp Stony) Coral collectors. Wonderfully colored corallites add visual interest, injecting great color and texture to your reef aquarium landscape. Blastomussa Merletti Corals have a familiar yet exotic appeal for many hobbyists.
The Blastomussa Merletti Coral requires moderate aquarium lighting conditions achieved by T-5s, powerful LEDs or the more intense metal halides. To maximize growth rate, maintain high pH, alkalinity and calcium levels, as well as high water quality with phosphate and nitrate levels as close to zero as possible. Though proper lighting and water quality is a must, the Blastomussa Merletti Coral does not require strong water movement.
A peaceful reef inhabitant, the Blastomussa Merletti Coral will not bother other neighboring corals. However, be sure to provide ample space away from other corals to accommodate for growth. For its continued good health, the Blastomussa Merletti Coral requires the addition of calcium, magnesium, strontium, and other trace elements to the water.
The Blastomussa Merletti Coral satisfies the majority of its nutritional requirements by means of photosynthetic, symbiotic zooxanthellae algae hosted within its body. However, it will benefit from supplemental feedings in the form of micro-plankton or foods designed for filter feeding invertebrates.
