Overview

The corals in this pack ship directly from our in-house coral farm and aquatics facility. What that means is that you can rest assured knowing these specimen receive the highest level of care from our experienced and professional staff. Plus, hobbyists who use our branded Professional Reef Salt have the added benefit knowing marine species shipped from our Wisconsin facility share the same water parameters. What this means is that they will acclimate and transition to your home aquarium with less stress, setting the foundation for long term success.

The Eye Catching Coral (ECC) Premium Aquacultured Zoanthid Polyp Packs are a wonderful assortment of colorful Zoanthus species. These attractive and hardy zoanthids are a purchase you can feel good about since they are aquacultured, which relieves pressure on wild reefs. They are colonial animals with several individual polyps that are referred to as Sea Mats or Zoas. Their polyps have the ability to sting other polyps or corals. While the sting is not strong, they are semi-aggressive and need to have space between their colony and any neighbors as they can grow up the bases of LPS and SPS corals when fully established.

Zoanthids are unique in that they incorporate sand and other small pieces of material into their tissue to help create their structure. In the wild, Zoanthids often occupy fringe environments (intertidal, back reef, other shallow areas, over dead corals), making them quite a hardy choice for the reef aquarist. They will thrive in a variety of lighting conditions, ranging from power compacts, T-5s, powerful LEDs, up to the more intense metal halides. The corals will satisfy the majority of their nutritional requirements by means of photosynthetic, symbiotic zooxanthellae algae hosted within its body. While they may not require additional food to maintain its health in the reef aquarium, these frags will feed on micro-plankton or foods designed for filter-feeding invertebrates.
