Overview
PLUS, hobbyists that use our LiveAquaria® Professional Reef Salt have the added benefit knowing marine species shipped from our LiveAquaria® Wisconsin Facility share the same water parameters. In other words, if you use our Professional Reef Salt, marine species shipped from our Wisconsin Facility will acclimate and transition to your home aquarium with less stress to set the foundation for longer term success.
The surface of the Yellow Ball Sponge, also referred to as the Moon Sponge, has numerous craters. It is often covered with sand or algae.
It needs a moderate water current near its location, but be careful to place the sponge slightly out of the path so that it only receives an indirect current. The lighting should be low.
All sponges, including the Yellow Ball Sponge require some very special care in order to survive in the home aquarium. The most critical concern is that the Yellow Ball Sponge should never be exposed to the air. If it is, the air becomes trapped in the matrix of channels that line the inside of its body. With air blocking the path for planktonic food to reach its cells, it will basically starve.
The diet of the Yellow Ball Sponge may be supplemented with feedings of substitute plankton.
