Overview

The Birdsnest Coral is also referred to as Seriatopora Needle, Finger, or Brush Coral. It is a small polyp stony (SPS) coral with very delicate, thin branches with needle-like tips. It is found in a variety of shades of pink. These are very delicate, but beautiful corals that offer a variety of shape and bright coloration to a reef aquarium.

The Birdsnest Coral needs strong lighting and moderate water current to maintain its bright colors. For continued good health, it will also require the addition of calcium, strontium, and other trace elements to the water.

While it does not require additional food to maintain its health in the reef aquarium, it will feed on micro-plankton and foods designed for filter feeding invertebrates.

I got my pink thin branch Birdsnest Coral a little over a year ago. Since then it has grown from about 1 1/2 inches to about five inches across. And I have made aproximately 15 frags from it. It has such beautiful, thin, white-tiped branches (they are delicate). I would highly recommend it for the established reef aquarium.

Got my large specimen in the mail. I could tell it was probably not at the facility very long. Got a small goby, a small shrimp and a few small crabs. it came broken up a little, so i got a bunch of frags now as well. I cant wait until the quarantine period is over, so that I can put it in my main display.

A photo doesn't give any justice for this a pink birdsnest coral. It was a brownish pink when I received However, once it acclimated, it turned into a striking vivid pink color I can't describe with a correct word. The pink birdsnest colony empires my 220 gallon reef tank. It is a very fast growing coral.
