LiveAquaria® CCGC Aquacultured Purple Rim Danae Montipora Coral

The LiveAquaria® CCGC Aquacultured Purple Rim Danae Montipora Coral is an exquisite color morph of Montipora danae propagated here at our Coral Farm &; Aquatic Life Facility. This eye-catching aquacultured variety sports a vibrant turquoise-green body color accentuated by a rich, purple colored growth edge to spectacular effect. If that wasn't enough, deep rusty maroon colored polyps punctuate its surface for a super display of color. Highly textural tuberculae form ridges and valleys that ripple across the coral skeleton for a truly dynamic and highly architectural presentation.

The Purple Rim Danae Montipora Coral requires moderate aquarium lighting conditions achieved by T-5s, powerful LEDs or the more intense metal halides. To maximize growth rate, maintain high pH, alkalinity and calcium levels, as well as high water quality with phosphate and nitrate levels as close to zero as possible. Along with proper lighting and water quality, the Purple Rim Danae Montipora Coral will benefit from moderate to strong water movement.

The Purple Rim Danae Montipora Coral is a peaceful reef inhabitant and does not bother other neighboring corals. However, be sure to provide ample space away from other corals as it can grow quickly under ideal conditions. For its continued good health, it requires the addition of calcium, magnesium, strontium, and other trace elements to the water.

The Purple Rim Danae Montipora Coral satisfies the majority of its nutritional requirements by means of photosynthetic, symbiotic zooxanthellae algae hosted within its body. It will benefit from supplemental feedings in the form of micro-plankton or foods designed for filter feeding invertebrates.

The Purple Rim Danae Montipora Coral is mounted on a fired ceramic plug that can be placed easily and securely in or between the rockwork in the reef aquarium.
