The Porcelain Anemone Crab is white with red spots and/or blotches of red or brown. They have very large front claws which they use to fend off potential predators. They are peaceful, and make a wonderful addition to any reef or invertebrate aquarium.
Porcelain Anemone Crabs live together in pairs under the protection of an anemone. It may attempt to defend its territory from clownfish that try to establish themselves among the anemone, although the clownfish generally prevails. It is aggressive toward conspecifics, and should not be kept with larger, aggressive crabs which may attack it.
It eats planktonic food and mucus from the anemone. It may be supplemented with tablet food placed next to the anemone.

This crab is the best I have had yet, does not bother any of my corals. It sits right up front on a small rock in the sand with a few small red mushrooms on it. He has made it his home and reaches for food with his arm fans in the current.
Anemone crabs are often thought to live only in anemones. In my experience, I have found that my crab chooses my soft corals over the carpet anemone in my tank.
I kept one alone in a mini-reef aquarium with success. They will be aggressive to others of the same sex. Take this in to consideration when introducing new porcelain crabs
Our Clown Fish never took to our Anemone so it truly was a treat to see our Porcelain Anemone Crab find our Anemone after only two days. He sits up inside the Anemone and uses his fan-like arms to catch food.
When mine arrived, I thought he was dead, but he had molted. It was like a red spider on top of the crab skeleton. I didn't see him for a couple of weeks and thought the fish ate him. He appeared this weekend - shell & all. He is really amusing with his "hands" waving all around. He & my Emerald Crab had quite a boxing match!
