The Biota Aquacultured White Polyp Toadstool Coral is a lovely pale white color variety of soft coral often referred to as Sarcophyton Coral, Mushroom, Leather, or Trough Coral. Though Sarcophyton Corals are typically found in various shades of brown with white or gold polyps, the Biota Aquacultured White Polyp Toadstool Coral demonstrates subtle shades green and pink coloration that beautifully accentuates its elongated star-shaped polyps. These long, flowing polyps give the Biota Aquacultured White Polyp Toadstool Coral an airy, ephemeral appearance that softens rockwork and other hardscape without congesting your reef aquarium landscape.

The Biota Aquacultured White Polyp Toadstool Coral is a hardy, fast-growing coral that makes an excellent choice for the novice through expert reef aquarist. The Biota Aquacultured White Polyp Toadstool Coral is relatively easy to maintain in the reef aquarium and will require moderate to high lighting conditions achieved by T-5s, powerful LEDs or the more intense metal halides combined with medium water movement within the aquarium. Though the Biota Aquacultured White Polyp Toadstool Coral is peaceful, adequate space should be provided between it and other corals in the reef aquarium as some Sarcophyton Coral can produce toxins which are harmful to other reef inhabitants.

The Biota Aquacultured White Polyp Toadstool Coral can be easily propagated (fragged) by experienced reef hobbyists, often accomplished by cutting off a portion of the coral's crown and attaching that piece to live rock or placing it onto the sandy bottom of a reef aquarium.

The symbiotic algae zooxanthellae hosted within the body of the Biota Aquacultured White Polyp Toadstool Coral satisfies the majority of its nutritional needs from the light driven process of photosynthesis. However, the Biota Aquacultured White Polyp Toadstool Coral will benefit from additional food such as micro-plankton, baby brine shrimp, or foods designed for filter feeding invertebrates.

For continued good health, the Biota Aquacultured White Polyp Toadstool Coral will also require the addition of iodine, strontium, and other trace elements to the water.
