Add exciting pattern and texture to your backyard wetland habitat with the Zebra Rush Plant. This cultivated variety of the Soft-Stemmed Bulrush is a popular addition to ponds and water gardens thanks to its ease-of-care and ornamental appearance. Resembling porcupine quills, the green and white banded stems of the Zebra Rush Plant instantly add pattern, texture, and vertical drama to your backyard paradise. The narrow spiked stems tower 3 feet tall or more and can inject a lighter, airier visual experience thanks to its lovely variegation. The Zebra Rush Plant is a perfect accompaniment to cattail, ornamental grasses, and other rush varieties that can often visually overwhelm the pond landscape with a massive wall of "green".

The Zebra Rush Plant is a hardy plant that can be located at the water's edge or immersed in water under partial shade or in full sun conditions. The Zebra Rush Plant exhibits a loose mounding growth habit that can form an impressive drift when planted en masse. Dense patches of the Zebra Rush Plant can be employed to help control pond shoreline erosion. To maintain a neat appearance or to contain excess growth, pot the Zebra Rush Plant in a wide-mouthed 1 to 2-gallon planting container and set the planter in your pond so it is covered by up to 1 to 6 inches of water. Zones 5 to 11.
