The color of the Purple Dottyback, also known as the Magenta Dottyback or Purple Pseudochromis, is best described as magenta.

A 30 gallon or larger aquarium should be provided. It may become aggressive towards other Pseudochromis or fish with similar body shapes. It is easy to keep in an aquarium when provided with numerous hiding places.

The diet consists of meaty foods such as brine shrimp and prepared frozen foods. Foods should be enriched and varied in order to preserve its beautiful coloration.

Approximate Purchase Size: 1" to 2-1/2"

Customer Testimonials

Charles L Drexel Hill , PA
Absolutely my favorite fish, period! Quick, agile, and very friendly. Will come right up to the glass and investigate. Will eat a wide variety of foods. Very hardy species, very territorial as well. Make sure you place this fish in the aquarium last or it will harass any fish of similar shape and/or size.
Joey H Franklin , OH
My two Purple Pseudochromis are very hardy, active fish and are great with other fish as long as you have enough hiding places. They are great for tank cycling and beginners.
Michael T [City Not Selected] , CO
I love this fish, it was my first one. They are great - especially if you have rock work or decorations for them to swim in and out of, and they will eat just about anything you feed them.
Dan N East Lansing , MI
Very cool looking fish, will eat almost anything. However, VERY aggressive. Had to get rid of him because he was terrorizing the other fish to the point where they would not come out of hiding anymore. He was the smallest in the tank but that did not stop him from being the king of it. Buy with caution
Josh C Williamsport , PA
Very beautiful fish! Always in the open. In and out of the rockwork constantly. A true terrorizer though!
Seth NE
Great fish, very active..Just make sure to have species that are either semi or aggressive because he picks on all of my peaceful specimens even if they are compatible.
