Cory Cats are some of the most peaceful and entertaining scavengers for a freshwater aquarium, and will thrive in a wide range of water conditions. These catfish are very energetic scavengers who remain relatively small. Because of this, they are perfect for keeping the substrate clean in a smaller freshwater community aquarium.

Members of the Loricariidae family of suckermouth catfish, Plecostomus, or Plecos, have specially adapted mouthparts, enabling them to attach to substrate. Most Plecostomus are peaceful fish and prefer to rest or slowly graze over the aquarium bottom, and do an excellent job of cleaning unwanted algae from the bottom and sides of the tank.

Large catfish are a very beautiful and peaceful species that make a wonderful addition to a large community aquarium. Most are omnivores and require a balanced diet of meaty and vegetable based foods. They make wonderful scavengers and help maintain good water quality.
