Overview
The White Tail Triggerfish is a distinctive and fascinating addition to the marine aquarium. Known for its unique coloration and active personality, this triggerfish features a beautiful combination of tan, brown, and gray tones, complemented by a striking yellow tail with a bright white outer edge. Its contrasting body colors, distinctive facial features, and constantly moving fins make it an interesting fish to observe. Like many triggerfish, the White Tail Triggerfish is intelligent, curious, and full of personality.
The White Tail Triggerfish requires a 80-gallon or larger aquarium with plenty of live rock, caves, and open swimming space. It is best suited for larger fish-only aquariums with other appropriately sized, semi-aggressive or aggressive species. This active fish enjoys exploring its surroundings and may rearrange rocks, substrate, and aquarium decorations. Provide secure rockwork and ample hiding places to help it feel comfortable.
The White Tail Triggerfish thrives on a varied diet of meaty marine foods, including squid, krill, clams, chopped fish, and shrimp. Offering hard-shelled foods such as clams and shrimp helps naturally wear down its continuously growing teeth. A balanced diet and spacious environment will help maintain its health, coloration, and active behavior.
