Overview
The Milk Spotted Puffer Chelonodon patoca is a rarer species. It is not reef safe, so is ideal for a fish-only marine system, as it eats crustaceans and bivalves that live in the sandy substrate, and may nibble on corals. As true with other Puffers, they will inflate to deter predators. It is also known as the Milk Spotted Toadfish and Marbled Puffer.
This Puffer displays a grayish white body and has brown irregularly sized dark brown markings. Its most distinguishing feature are the white spots appearing across its body above its midline.
This member of the Tetraodontidae family is a carnivore and needs meaty foods, most of which should be shellfish to keep their oral crushing plates in check. They will also accept a wide range of frozen protein-rich foods and the occasional live feeder shrimp.
