All of these corals have been well adjusted to artificial lighting and synthetic seawater and have been quarantined, inspected, and medicated in our state-of-the-art Aquaculture Coral Facility in Rhinelander, Wisconsin.

The ideal conditions for the SPS coral are an established reef aquarium with bright lighting provided by intense metal halides. Under the right conditions, the growth rate of the SPS coral is much more rapid than most of the other corals found in an established reef aquarium.

To maximize their growth rate, it is important to maintain a high pH and stable alkalinity and calcium levels. Maintain phosphate and nitrate levels as close to zero as possible. If conditions are ideal, these corals can also be cultured and grown into a new colony from living fragments or broken pieces.

Along with good lighting and water quality, SPS corals prefer strong, intermittent water flow within the aquarium. This is best accomplished with a wavemaker and multiple powerheads.

SPS corals receive a majority of their nutritional requirements through photosynthesis, but will benefit from the addition of various types of zooplankton.
