Overview

The Haitian Reef Anemone, also known as the Pink-Tip Condy, is found near Haiti, in lagoons or on inner reefs, as individuals, or loose groups. It is never found in connected clusters. It has a red column with long, tapering, pink-tipped tentacles. The tentacles may occasionally develop a bubble-like appearance. Generally it likes to bury the base in the sand or into the crevice of a rock for protection.

Haitian Reef Anemones requires strong light and should be never be purchased if a good lighting system is not in place. It will do well in an aquarium with live rock and several crustaceans. Although Haitian Reef Anemones requires a reef style environment, they are not ideally suited for the reef aquarium containing corals. Haitian Reef Anemones move around the tank and have a sting that can inflict grave damage to other anemones and corals. Do not include its natural predator, the large Stareye Hermit Crab of the genus Dardanus.

Unlike other anemones, the Haitian Reef Anemone does not have a relationship with any particular fish, and it is rare for any type of clownfish or damsel to reside within them.

The diet should include feedings of fish, mussels, shrimp, or other foods of this type.

Your description of this anemone is dead-on. My friend and I have a 24-gallon tank with this guy and our 2 False Ocellaris Clowns have not bonded with it ... although, we're hopeful. Its' colors are beautiful and it isn't difficult to care for. Behavior is, as your description indicates, pretty interesting: It moves around the tank somewhat but prefers to stay nestled between our live rock with the base in the sand. All and all a beautiful addition to our tank. Would recommend to a friend...

I have one and the second I added to the tank my yellow stripe maroon clown immediately paired with it. I also have a large carpet anemone in the tank and the clown choose this as its host. Does have the tendancy to float around the tank. Nock on wood that it has not stung and corals.

I received this anemone in perfect condition and once he found himself a good spot my orange skunk paired with him almost immediately. This anemone did move but eventually buried his foot in the sand in the corner of my aquarium. He hasn't moved in almost a week.

This one sure has it's own personality like all anemones do. Beautiful and my black mocha storm and black oscalarious just started hosting it today.

I just got my Purple in yesterday without knowing the finer details of this species. Luckily for me, I had planned on build my reef around my Anemone. As such, it arrived healthy and has settled in one of my Ideal Spots for it. There's always a chance that it'll move, but hopefully some target feeding will discourage it from doing so. I hope the Lightning x Gold Maroon I plan on getting will host it.
