Fiji Standard Rock is an ideal and affordable way to fill fish-only or reef aquarium with decorative live rock. Depending on the location of harvest this rock may be in boulder and oblong shapes, or fused branches of ancient Proites colonies, and is 40-70% covered in Coralline algae on the top or show side of each piece. A small amount of rubble may be present upon receipt of the box as this is normal and is a result of transportation. The rubble can help to seed new aquariums, or can be added to the refugium to establish hiding places for copepods and other micro-fauna.
Unlike most transshipped Fiji rock, our standard rock is re-hydrated in fresh synthetic seawater prior to shipping and carefully packaged in an insulated shipping box.
The recommended amount of Live Rock for an aquarium is 1-1/4 to 1-3/4 pounds per gallon. This amount will create a beautiful aquascape and add the biodiversity that many enthusiasts demand in their mini ecosystem. For aquascaping purposes, it is acceptable to alter the shapes and sizes of the rock with a hammer and chisel. This will not damage the integrity of the rock nor its inhabitants.
Fiji Standard Rock will benefit not only reef aquariums but also fish-only aquariums. Live rock will provide a natural food source for some fish, aid in the breakdown of waste produced by aquarium inhabitants, and create a foundation for live corals or decorations in a fish-only aquarium. Many beneficial life forms such as macroalgae, worms, micro sea stars, copepods, amphipods, and beneficial worms will appear after several months in the aquarium.
Fiji Standard Rock is easy to maintain and makes an excellent candidate for the beginner to the expert aquarist. This type of rock requires moderate lighting and moderate water movement, along with the addition of calcium, strontium, iodine, and trace elements.
Although this rock has been pre-cured, it is imperative to cure the rock again upon receipt, before it is placed in the display aquarium that contains fish, coral, or inverts since some normal die off will occur during transit.
ARRIVAL - When first received, this rock will vary in coloration, shape and
size. The different micro fauna may not be very visible at first, but are
deep inside the crevices of the rock.
CURING - During the curing process, some die off will normally occur, and
the rock may be scrubbed to remove these areas. When cured in a separate
container, it is common for the coralline algae to start to turn white.
Frequent water changes will help to reduce the stress on the life inside the
crevices of the rock.
ESTABLISHED - Once cured, maintained under the proper lighting, and
supplemented with buffers and calcium, this rock will regain its diversity
of bright colored coralline algae, and many beneficial life forms will begin
to appear and populate the display aquarium.

I've waited until my rock was completely cured before making this post. After 4 months I'm extremely happy with my Fiji Rock and South Pacific deepwater from LiveAquaria. I was a little hesitant because I've always prefered to pick out my rock in LFS....This rock is great, tons of great hitchhikers and lots of purple coraline. About a week ago a beautiful orange coraline has popped up on two separate rocks. Anyway, very happy and would do it again!
I just received my order of LiveAquaria's Fiji Standard Live Rock. I am extremely pleased with the size rocks I got. I was afraid I would end up with nothing but small pieces but that was not the case. I got three really nice big pieces and the others were very good sizes as well. They arrived with a lot of color and are great shapes. They looked beautiful out of the box. I will be ordering more! Can't wait to see what they look like in a couple of months.
You guys are great!!!!! I ordered this thinking i would get something similar to what i get at LFS....NO WAY...this rock makes anything i have ever seen before look like crap!!!! I was so suprised to open the boxes and see such big and colorful rocks....You get different shapes and sizes with all kinds of things growing on it...I will never purchas live rock from any other place.....Also do the math LFS charge about anywhere from 5.99 to 8.99 a pound for this stuff! Dr Foster & Smith is hands down the best place for all your pet needs!!!!!
This was the first time I ever ordered live rock off the internet. My husband and I were thrilled with the quality and appearance of the rock. Its much better quality than the LFS and much cheaper. It really enhances the appearance of the reef tank we plan to start. This is the only place I will purchase my rock from.
