The Hi Fin Red Banded Goby is also referred to as the Striped Goby, or the Blackray Shrimp Goby. The body has a silver-white coloration with a yellow face and very distinct dark diagonal stripes across the body. They are a wonderful fish for a passive fish only or reef aquarium, and may form a symbiotic relationship with a pistol shrimp.
The ideal environment is an aquarium of at least 10 gallons with plenty of live rock and a sand bed. It is not aggressive towards other shrimp gobies and may even share a burrow with another species. Being territorial, it may occasionally quarrel with conspecifics if kept together, or if the tank is too small.
It is possible for the Hi Fin Red Banded Goby to spawn successfully in an aquarium.
The diet should consist of mysis shrimp, vitamin-enriched brine shrimp, and chopped table shrimp. It needs to be fed at least two times per day. When first added to the aquarium it may not eat for several days, but will usually acclimate and begin eating.

I've noticed that my Gobie is more active at "dawn" and "dusk" in my tank and prefers a low flow area. He only goes after food in the water column and does not feed on food floating at the top of the tank. However, a very fun and personable fish with attitude.
When we opened the bag, he actually poked his little fish head out the top while I was floating the bag! I no sooner thought how cute, when he jumped out of the bag into his aquarium! He settled right into the tank but surprised us all by this antic. Would of been nice to know he would jump out of the bag and say hello!
I think that the Hi Fin Red Banded Goby is a beautiful addition to our aquarium but he does not get along with our Catalina Goby. I only see the Hi Fin when it is feeding time. He burrows himself back into the rocks/sand after feeding. We purchased another Hi Fin to hopefully get him out of the rocks but the Catalina Goby has already picked on the second one and the two Hi Fin's now burrow together away from the Catalina. We are thinking that a bigger tank is needed and that the two Hi Fin's will be added first to the tank.
