Innovative carbon dioxide reactor optimizes CO2 use for healthy, thriving aquarium plants. ISTA Max Mix CO2 Reactor features a patented impeller design that actively mixes CO2 gas within the reaction chamber. CO2 gas is completely dissolved into the water to eliminate waste or loss due to escaped CO2 bubbles. More dissolved carbon dioxide means efficient and effective CO2 supplementation in planted aquariums.

ISTA Max Mix CO2 Reactor boasts durable impact resistant acrylic construction. Versatile CO2 reactor can be used as an internal or external unit to suit your setup needs. Easy to clean and simple to maintain reactor is installed to the return line of canister filters for convenient installation and application. The ISTA Max Mix CO2 Reactor is available in two sizes.

Medium measures 3" x 2" x 8.75" high with a recommended flow rate of 95-264 gph. Large measures 3" x 2" x 12.75" high with a recommended flow rate of 264-528 gph. Both units include suction cups for secure mounting, elbows and adapter to accommodate 1/2" or 3/4" tubing.

Directions for Use

Note:

  • The Max Mix CO2 Reactor should be used in an upright position at all times.
  • The Max Mix CO2 Reactor is attached to the outlet of your external filter before returning to the aquarium.
  1. First, turn off the canister filter and CO2.
  2. Connect CO2 tube from the CO2 tank to the CO2 Inlet on the top of the Max Mix CO2 Reactor.
  3. Connect Outlet Tube from the canister filter Return to the connection on the side of the Max Mix CO2 Reactor.
  4. Connect a Return Tube from the top center of the Max Mix CO2 Reactor to a return line.
  5. Make sure the bottom of the Max Mix CO2 Reactor is securely closed.
  6. Turn on the canister filter to allow water to enter the Max Mix CO2 Reactor and into the aquarium.
  7. Turn the Max Mix CO2 Reactor completely upside down for a few seconds to allow built up gases (air) to escape from the Max Mix CO2 Reactor.
  8. Return the Max Mix CO2 Reactor to an upright position. This will allow a smooth flow of water from the Max Mix CO2 Reactor to your tank.
  9. Repeat Steps 6 and 7 if air is still present at the top of the Max Mix CO2 Reactor. Stop when the Max Mix CO2 Reactor is full of water and there is no air present.
  10. Turn on CO2 and adjust to desired bubble rate.
  11. Enjoy the best dissolving rate of CO2 possible.
Note:
  1. Due to its super-efficient dissolving rate, CO2 supply rate could be reduced faster when compared to other CO2 reactors or diffusers. Supplying too much CO2 can lead to a lack of oxygen.
  2. Be sure the inlet/out pipe and the CO2 tube are securely fastened to the Max Mix CO2 Reactor.
  3. To assure best operation, built up air has to be released before operation.
  4. Do not put any filter media inside the reactor chamber. Floating objects will affect or stop the operation of the impeller.
