Overview

The Lagoon Shrimp Goby is a marine Goby that has a greenish yellow colored body and fins. Brown patterning is evident on the body as well as the fins (and sometimes in a striped pattern on the fins). Interest and drama are added to their look by the short blue iridescent linear markings on their head and on the base of their pectoral fins.

Like other gobies, Cryptocentrus cyanotaenia like to be housed in saltwater tanks that have a sand or gravel substrate that is deep enough for them to burrow and sift through in search of food. A tight-fitting lid or canopy is recommended to prevent escape.

Growing to a maximum size of 5”, Lagoon Shrimp Gobies can be kept in a community tank with other small aquaria with peaceful temperaments and similar water requirements. Although a peaceful tankmate in a community tank, they are territorial with their own species.

Carnivores, they should be offered live and frozen food such as Mysis and brine shrimp, and other meaty foods placed on the sand for them to find.
