Overview

The Bubble Gum Chalice Coral makes a sweet addition for the avid Chalice Coral collector or any reef aquarium hobbyists wanting exotic coloration and impressive architectural structure. The Bubble Gum Chalice Coral exhibits an exciting pink and purple combination that injects incredible color to any reef aquarium. The fleshy, heavily-tissued body and raised corallites of the Bubble Gum Chalice Coral add amazing organic texture for a truly dramatic presentation.

Care of the Bubble Gum Chalice Coral is fairly straightforward as long as you maintain pristine water conditions. Similar to other Chalice Corals, the Bubble Gum Chalice Coral prefers horizontal placement in areas of low to moderate light and medium water movement. Keep in mind that the Bubble Gum Chalice Coral can readily adapt to different amounts of lighting. Typically a slow growing coral, the species is known to exhibit both an encrusting habit when placed near aquarium glass as well as a plating habit when housed in open areas.

The Bubble Gum Chalice Coral can produce sweeper tentacles that can harm more docile corals and invertebrates. Be sure to provide sufficient space between the Bubble Gum Chalice Coral and other corals because of its semi-aggressive temperament.

The Bubble Gum Chalice Coral feeds mostly at night. Though feeding is not necessary, it benefits from small pieces of meaty marine food, such as baby brine shrimp, Cyclops, or foods designed for filter-feeding invertebrates. For continued good health, the Bubble Gum Chalice Coral benefits from the addition of calcium, strontium, iodine, magnesium and trace elements to the water column.
