Overview

Creating a thriving "planted marine aquarium" is finally possible thanks to new macro algae from LiveAquaria®. These stunningly vibrant and easy-to-care-for algae let you aquascape a nano system that's as beneficial as it is beautiful!

Add a spray of green interest to your nano reef or marine refugium with beneficial Tufted Joint Algae. Cymopolia barbata is a segmented, prehistoric looking green macro algae that provides proper nutrient export and oxygenation, helping to naturally boost water quality and balance your aquarium's nitrogen cycle.

Mounted on a piece of square cut fossilized coral skeleton, Tufted Joint Algae arrives ready to anchor in the rockwork of your nano reef or refugium. Provide moderate flow and lighting with the supplementation of iron, magnesium and trace elements. High levels of phosphates or nitrates will inhibit the growth of these algae.

Tufted Joint Algae is also an important and favorite food source of herbivores like tangs and angels. Once established, clip pieces of Cymopolia barbata from your refugium and feed as a nutritious snack.

In the wild, this species is found in the Atlantic Islands, Gulf of Mexico, and Caribbean.
