Overview
The head and sleek body of the Neon Goby, also known as the Neon Blue Goby, are dark blue with a striking horizontal light-blue stripe on each side beginning above the eye and running the entire length of the body. The Neon Goby is a very hardy fish, and because its small size, is a great addition to a small reef tank.
It should be housed in a 10-gallon or larger aquarium. It is a cleaner species which will service tank mates and help control some diseases. Rarely will it become aggressive towards other fish, but it is territorial, and will fight with its own kind unless they are a mated pair.
It is common for the Neon Goby to spawn in an aquarium, laying its eggs in a crevice or empty shell.
It feeds on a variety of live and frozen brine shrimp, frozen mysis shrimp, table shrimp, and frozen food preparations for carnivores. If kept in a reef tank, the Neon Goby should be fed once per day.

Great fish for my 29 gallon aquarium. The electric blue stripes are amazingly bright under actinic lighting. He found a small hole in my live rock and made it his home. I've even seen him cleaning my purple firefish! Amazing!

A very beneficial fish every aquarist should consider for their tank. Will hide at first after introduction, but very personable once acclimated. They are hillarious to watch feeding with the other fish - they go after pieces of food you would think they would be scared of. Amazing creature with a very unique swimming/clinging ability.

One of my favorite aquarium fish. I have also seen them cleaning other fish like a Remora to a shark. The striking stripes are very prominent under actinic bulbs. But an enthusiast should be aware these are not swimming fish, they are perching fish. They will dart around the tank and sit on a rock; then dart around the tank and sit on another rock. These are good for reef tanks, not fish only. I would not recommend these for a FOWLR either because they do like to play in polyp corals and the fingers of my Colt soft coral. A FOWLR has blank rock so I doubt they would be as happy there.

A cool little fish to have in your aquarium. Although, mine does not seem to clean the other tankmates as I have expected. The blue stripe looks great under good lighting and is a nice addition to a tank. Funny to watch swim in and out of the smallest holes Hopefully, yours is an active cleaner.
