The Freshwater Diver's Den® WYSIWYG Store
Come check out our selection of ONE-OF-A-KIND freshwater fish! Launched in August 2016, LiveAquaria raises the bar once again. The addition of dedicated space for unique and more challenging species of freshwater fish expands our offering of highest quality “What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get” specimens for your freshwater display aquarium. Furthermore, our team of dedicated Freshwater Diver's Den® professionals have developed and implemented a strict set of quarantine and conditioning practices to ensure only the healthiest specimens are available to you.

The fish you purchase from the Freshwater Diver's Den® WYSIWYG Store are the healthiest freshwater ornamental fish available. Whether it’s small Tetras or a Show Size Discus, every single fish at our Aquatic Life Facility receives our full attention and the highest level of professional care. All fish are quarantined and acclimated to captive conditions under strict protocols regardless of species.

Proper Acclimation
Upon arrival, all new freshwater specimens begin their journey through LiveAquaria’s Coral Farm and Aquatic Life facility in a low light environment to reduce stress throughout the unpacking process. From the moment a shipment is received, the shipping water temperature and pH are closely monitored before the acclimation process begins. Once fish begin acclimating to the quarantine system, we practice a “no-net” technique to ensure that no additional stress or pathogenic transmission (from nets) can occur. Following release, the new aquarium inhabitants are offered a variety of vitamin-enriched foods to help strengthen their immune system.

State-of-the-Art Quarantine System
The entire freshwater holding system, comprised of multiple individual holding tanks, incorporates a new twist on a tried and true filtration system. Each holding tank is equipped with solenoid valves and a timer to perform automatic water changes twice per day with heated and aerated reverse osmosis water. These state-of-the-art quarantine tanks employ both biological and mechanical filtration to maintain optimum water conditions with zero ammonia and nitrate levels.

Stress-Reduction Period
To reduce stress, aquarium lights are dimmed by 75% for the first 24 hours and are gradually increased thereafter. Close monitoring and adjustment of water parameters is performed daily to ensure an ideal environment with proper water chemistry and mineral composition tailored to suit the specific needs of each tank inhabitant. By utilizing isolated quarantine systems, we can provide precise pH and hardness levels for even the most demanding of species.

Disease Prevention and Treatment
During the quarantine period, all new fish are treated with copper sulfate and/or a 37% formaldehyde solution as needed to prevent or combat freshwater ich (Ichthyophthirius multifiliis) and other parasitic or protozoan infections such as Ichthyobodosis, Chilodonellosis, and Trichodinosis.

Quarantine and Observation Period
The minimum quarantine period for all new arrivals is 2 weeks, though some sensitive species remain in quarantine for much longer. Depending on temperament and feeding habit, select fish are separated and housed in “species-only” tanks to ensure low stress levels and reduced competition during feeding. Throughout the quarantine period, close monitoring of behavior, food preferences, and overall appearance of each specimen ensures a successful transition into our main holding aquariums.

Final Acclimation to Captive Conditions
After the quarantine period is over and fish are showing no signs of stress or ailment, they are moved into the main holding aquariums. Identical to our quarantine systems, the main holding aquariums employ biological and mechanical filtration, and all water parameters are under precise control. At this stage of final acclimation, the fish are offered a variety of vitamin-enriched food a minimum of 4 times per day. When the fish have settled into their new environment, choice specimens are selected and photographed for the Freshwater Diver’s Den® WYSIWYG Store. By the time the images are loaded onto the Diver's Den® WYSIWYG Store section of LiveAquaria® and offered for sale, these freshwater fish have passed a strict quarantine, treatment, and acclimation procedure. When you select these exquisite specimens from the Diver's Den® WYSIWYG Store, you are receiving the healthiest freshwater fish available anywhere.
