Overview

The Threeband Pennant Butterflyfish, also known as the Threeband Pennant Coralfish and Pennant Bannerfish, has a tall dorsal spine elongated into a feather-shaped pennant. It has a white body with three vertical brown bands and one eye stripe. There is a splash of yellow on the mouth.

It requires a 125 gallon or larger aquarium that has a rocky aquascape with overhangs or caves for shelter. It may be kept in pairs if both are introduced to the aquarium at the same time. The Threeband Pennant Butterflyfish will acclimate better if the tank mates are small and docile. An aquarium with live rock would be beneficial. It may nip at sessile invertebrates including corals. Use caution if housing this species in the reef aquarium.

Its diet should consist of herbivore preparations and a variety of meaty items.
