overview
Add a distinctive element from Takashi Amano's famous Nature Aquarium World designs into your planted home aquarium with the elegantly simple Cyperus helferi. Its subtle, long flowing leaves sway gracefully across the current, creating a relaxing Zen beauty with showcase style.
One of the few plants in its genus that can adapt to submersed life, Cyperus helferi is an amphibious native of Thailand, found growing marginally within slow-flowing bodies of water. In the home aquarium, it lends itself to attractive dense groupings for mid-ground to background aquascaping. For lush, rapid, and robust growth, provide moderate to high lighting (2-4 watts/gallon), CO2 injection, a high-quality aquarium fertilizer, and a nutrient rich substrate. Cyperus also enjoys a slightly cooler water temperature (average below 80°F) with moderate current in the aquarium. Cyperus plant produces a small root system with numerous "daughter" runners radiating out from the base of the parent plant. To propagate, simply separate one of the daughter plants with a sharp scissors and replant it in a new location. Approximate Shipping Size: Potted 4" to 6" |
