The Bluebell is a marshy plant bearing petunia-like flowers that is great as edge-cover in ponds. The dark purple-green foliage grows off fleshy stems that spread to 12". The small, bell shaped blue flowers compliment this bushy, low growing plant in mid-summer.
Plant Bluebells in 1 to 2-gallon containers and cover with up to 3 inches of water. They will grow to a height of approximately 10 inches when planted in sun to part shade. Bluebell seeds can be propagated in greenhouses in spring for planting in early summer. Cuttings may also be taken in late summer and started in heated beds in greenhouses. Move new plants to the pond when the water and air temperatures stabilize above 70°F. Zones 9-11. Approximate Purchase Size: 12" to 18" |
