The Flowering Rush is a stunning marginal water garden plant that dresses any pond perimeter. It features tall stalks that produce rounded, umbrella-shaped pink to white flowers between June and August. As a contrast to the beautiful flowers, the Flowering Rush boasts narrow, sword-shaped leaves.
Native to parts of Asia and Europe, the Flowering Rush is often informally referred to as the "Water Gladiolus" due to its beautifully colored flowers. For optimal growth, it should be planted in shallow water of 6" deep or less. Though stunning in any planting, many pond enthusiasts feel it is most dramatic when planted in groups of up to ten plants. It self-propagates via rhizomes; however, for optimal flower growth, the plant should be carefully and regularly divided. Zones 4 to 11.
