overview
Our Reef Rubble features live rock chunks ranging from 1/2" to 3" in size. This size makes it perfect for use in refugiums. In addition to live rock pieces, Reef Rubble also contains some sand, gravel, and mud that help seed new aquariums or refugiums with beneficial bacteria. Various other microfauna including copepods, worms, and amphipods increase biological diversity to make Reef Rubble a great "living substrate" for refugiums.
Refugium Rubble is beneficial for reef aquariums as well as fish-only marine aquariums. This live rock will provide a natural food source for some fish and can be used to cycle new aquariums. Naturally colonized by marine life such as invertebrates, corals, sponges, and millions of beneficial nitrifying bacteria, live rock provides supplemental biological filtration to efficiently break down waste produced by aquarium inhabitants. Live Rock is easy to maintain in the aquarium and is an excellent addition for the beginner or the expert aquarist. This type of rock requires moderate lighting and water movement along with the addition of calcium, strontium, iodine, and trace elements. Although this Refugium Rubble has been fully cured and cycled, it is imperative to cure the rock again upon receipt, before it is placed in the display aquarium that contains fish, coral, or inverts. Please refer to our Live Rock/Sand Acclimation Guide to ensure a successful introduction to your tank. |
