overview
Fiji Foundation Rock is a cured dense rock that is a cost effective way to construct a nice live rock display in your aquarium. Creates a stable base so that more colorful rock can be added on top, making it the ideal choice as foundation rock for any marine aquarium.
Fiji Foundation Rock is mainly oval or round in shape but, depending on the location of harvest, this rock may be in boulder/oblong shapes or fused branches of ancient Porites colonies. The average size of each rock in a 45 pound box varies between 6 and 14 inches. The recommended amount of Live Rock for an aquarium is 1-1/4 to 1-3/4 pounds per gallon. Fiji Foundation Rock is great for reef aquariums as well as fish-only aquariums. This live rock will provide a natural food source for some fish, aid in the breakdown of waste produced by aquarium inhabitants, and can be used to cycle new aquariums. Also, many beneficial life forms such as worms, mini sea stars, copepods, and amphipods will appear and populate the aquarium after several months, adding rich bio-diversity for a stable marine environment. Fiji Foundation Rock is easy to care for and is a great choice for the beginner or the expert aquarist. This type of rock requires moderate lighting and moderate water movement, along with the addition of calcium, strontium, iodine, and trace elements. Although the rock is cured it is imperative to cure the rock again upon receipt, before it is placed in the display aquarium that contains fish, coral, or inverts.
