overview
The Harlequin Bass is an unusual striking yellow and black mottled color on the ventral side, with black and white mottling on the dorsal half. A 30 gallon or larger aquarium with abundant hiding places provides a good environment. It prefers to dig in the bottom substrate.
As the Harlequin Bass matures, it may prey on any smaller fish or crustacean tank mates, but is peaceful with other larger fish. It will not live peacefully with others of the same species unless they form a mated pair. An extremely hardy fish, the Harlequin Bass requires a diet consisting of a variety of chopped live meaty items and frozen foods.
